Daily Snippet, 1-7-12

“This is the best case ever,” Nelly said over the comm. I didn’t have to ask then if she was seeing what I was. “Do you think–“

 I didn’t hear whatever Nelly asked. “Repeat,” I said. Then the spider bot hit the floor with a terrifying thud. Its body was dark and dead, just like the comm connection. I grabbed it and roughly stuffed it into a pocket. Even if I didn’t get caught, I didn’t want anyone in the commune to see it and get suspicious that they were being watched.

Er, this still counts as today, right? It’s still the seventh in Hawaii, I think. Yeah, okay, I need to stop leaving my words until so late at night. Still, this scene ran nice and long and good. The snippet is short because I had trouble finding something that would not give away any major spoilers without resorting to single words–“door” not being a riveting sample on its own.
