Not with a bang, but a whimper

I spent the first day of NaNoWriMo ’09 at a horse show. That lasted 9 hours. Oh, it was awful. Well, not awful, because we actually did really well. But it was hot, and so sunny that my face still aches from squinting, and just went on and on with a lot of pointless time-wasting because no one knows how to get prima dona trainers to move their sorry asses. Ahem. </rant>

It is for this reason, including the part where I can’t make my eyes focus any longer, that I will be starting NaNo a day late. I do not sleep the sleep of the just, but the sleep of the really goddamn tired and cranky. An altogether different sort of sleep, I must say. Tomorrow, however, I begin with zeal and swift fingers.

If anyone would like to follow my progress or see snippets of what I’m writing, here is my profile on NaNo (where I am known as RakkiFox). Keep in mind, I will be writing far ahead into House of Cats, so if you want a sneak peek of what’s to come, this will be the place to find it. And I am adding a progress meter to the sidebar here as well. So if it looks like I’m falling behind, drop me a line and tell me to get my own sorry ass moving. Er, just, maybe not today, okay? See above, re: whimper.

(Note: as of my posting this, the NaNo site is experiencing its usual Nov. 1st slowdown and none of the widgets are working. This should correct itself soon. So hold off on giving me a kick in the pants for just a little bit longer, please!)
