Someone mentioned this on a BBS I follow and it sounded pretty cool. There’s an article about the Orionid shower at National Geographic for anyone who wants to check it out. It should be visible early Wednesday, from about midnight to just before dawn (by local time, wherever you are) in the east.
Maybe I’ll take a nap today so I can stay up all night and see this. I don’t trust myself to get out of bed in the middle of the night — too lazy! Besides, I’m always up until at least midnight. I always seem to miss out on meteor showers and comets because I don’t hear about them until the day after they happen.
I should have a good view where I am. My eastern sky is very clear and I’m up high enough above the town that I don’t get a lot a light pollution. Whoo! I’m very excited about this now.
